The PJCI - Pasadena Japanese Cutural Institute is where I spend my Saturday nights doing Kyudo - Japanese Zen Achery.

In addition to Kyudo, The PJCI has a whole variety of traditional Japanese arts. They even have Japanese Language Classes for kids and adults.

108 Arrow Shoot by the Nanka Kyudo Kai

The Nanka Kyudo Kai hosted it's 108 arrow shoot on December 29th.

The Nanka Kyudo Kai and it's parent have practiced kyudo at Rancho Park Archery Range since it was build in 1983. Before that the Los Angeles Kyudo Kai practiced at El Dorado Park in Long Beach.

Since 2001 the Nanka Kyudo Kai has held, on the last Sunday of the year, a ritual purification of shooting 108 arrows. This ritual is a long standing tradition in Japan.

The event had visitors from the Long Beach Kyudo Kai, under the Direction of Marcus Bossett. The Los Long Beach Kyudo Kai has revived the kyudo practice at El Dorado Park.

In addition, there was a special guest instructor visiting from the Arizona Kyudo Kai, Sensei Bill Savery.

There were about almost 20 participants throughout the day, but not everyone both started and finished the whole 108 arrow day.
