Miso at the JACCC today!

Beside our regular weekend kyudo classes we always attend, today we visited our favorite Los Angeles Little Tokyo spot: The JACCC (Japanese American Cultural Community Center).
 Today the CEO of the JACCC Leslie Ito, and the Artistic Director Introduced a Miso Tasting event for their Verandah Series of events.

The CEO of Miyako Oriental Foods and their manager Joe Arai presented a history of Miso; gave out recipes for Miso, had audiance members mix some items together for great dips (which we ate with the provided vegetables).

 In the end, JACCC's Artistic Director (our kyudo Sensei) Mr. Hirokazu Kosaka gave a lecture on his Miso soup and how Miso is used in Buddhist Monasteries and Kaiseki Ryori in Kyoto.

In the end we all enjoyed a wonderful bowl of Miso Soup made by Mr. Kosaka and his assistants. All the food to eat, and the goodie bag to take home were well worth the nominal price of admission, let alone the wonderful event of sharing community and some delicious food.

Sushi in Padadena

Had Sushi at 0-2 Sushi in Pasadena.
Eastside of Old Town Pasadena across the street from the mall.
$3.00 weekend parking behind the restaurant. Cash Only though for Parking

No Combos or specials on weekends ):
The ability to roll, and the rice itself, were just ok;
But the quality of the fish and ingredients were superb.
Price was mid to high range, but the quality of the ingredients makes it worthwhile.
I'll go back.
